The KPI’s You NEED To Be Focusing On To Boost Your Spa Revenue

The hotel industry is renowned for understanding how to manage their business, through focusing on certain key performance indicators.

All the talk is about RevPAR, average daily rate, and room occupancy, which is critical in understanding the performance of a hotel, and it's a great way to monitor and compare results.

But what about spas?

Well, at Mosaic we love to bring that same discipline to managing the spas we operate within hotels. We have our team of specialists at head office, who monitor how all our spas are performing on a daily basis.

This is vital. But what are we monitoring? And more importantly, what should you be measuring?

The KPIs your spa should focus on!

There are six that we focus on, but today is about two of them. Two crucial performance indicators for a successful spa.

Firstly, there's the average number of spa guest visits we achieve per day. A simple measurement, but so critical.

We know that some days of the week will always be busier than others. And at some months of the year, we'll be busier too. But by comparing average daily visits for one month, to the same month last year, we can see how effective our marketing is.

More importantly, by checking how busy we are, we can start to schedule staff more intelligently.

In the spa, it's about controlling cause, as well as maximising revenue. We combine the average number of spa guests per day, with the average spend per guest too. We don't want to be busy fools. It's easy, especially if we work with third parties to promote the spa to guests.

But how much revenue is each guest generating? How can we increase that spend? Can we grow the spend per guest rather than the number of guests?

Rule number one for increasing guest spend…

We work hard to train our staff to upsell guests on the day so that we increase the revenue and fill the gaps in the schedule.

It's the attention to detail and the simple strategies that make all the difference and can help to convert profits to the bottom line.

With Mosaic, we focus on the spa, allowing the hotel management to concentrate on the core part of the hotel business.
