D.I.Y Coffee Beauty Recipes

Oh coffee, how we love you. You keep us going throughout the long days, taste delightful and smell incredible… and make some great natural beauty products. Get ready to use those leftover coffee grounds and awaken your senses in new ways!

Coffee Body Scrub

Perhaps the most universally-accepted coffee beauty product, coffee body scrub has become a bit of a cult-product over the last 5 years. Its natural caffeine content is thought to help reduce cellulite and improve blood circulation.

Make your own by: Mixing coffee grounds with some coconut oil and brown sugar. Add essential oils or vanilla flavouring for a heightened smell. Scrub onto body in circle motions and wash off in shower. Be prepared as this may get a little messy…

Dark Circle Mask

Caffeine is known for being a great treatment for dark circles, which makes coffee a great base to use.

Make your own by: Combining ½ tsp each of coffee grounds and olive oil. Add in a couple drops of water to make a small paste, then pat under eyes. Be careful not to rub! Leave this paste on for 5-10 minutes then gently wipe off with a wet cloth. Ta-dah! Your eyes are now party ready.

Face Mask

Coffee is wonderful for reducing redness in skin and exfoliating dead skin. For a 2-in-1 face mask exfoliation treatment, try a coffee face mask.

Make your own by: Combining coffee grounds with a little milk, honey and olive oil, then stirring into a paste. Apply to face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Slowly massage the face when washing off to maximise the exfoliating properties. When applying to face, we recommend doing so over a sink to avoid creating too much of a mess! Coffee can also stain clothes so be sure to wrap a towel around yourself.

If you’re really crafty and have the correct ingredients, coffee grounds make a great addition to home-made soap, candles or lip balm.
